Welcome to my website. I am Terry Sweeney and Photography is definitely my passion in life. I have been living and working in Montana basically my entire life and taking photographs for well over 30 years.
During the day, I am the CFO for a large farm & agricultural based co-op. Our core group of customers is made up of Farmers and Ranchers, that help Feed the World. Being a co-op we return the profits back to the members (love this part of what I do).
When not performing those duties, I have the opportunity to live in Southwest Montana and pursue my passion of photography. I am also in the fortunate position of not having to sell my artwork in high volume to pay my bills. My focus is on quality not quantity.
This is when I get to the Why!
I have always been drawn to photography. My father gave me my first 35 mm camera and that was the beginning. It took me a number of years and thousands of shots before I began capturing the images you see here on my site.
One of my goals is to create interesting and unique fine art photography. I want to create art that has meaning to me. Then I get to share the beauty that I capture with you.
I strive to create what I call "100 year images". These are images that people 100 years from now will still be enjoying. They will see what our slice of the world looked like while we were here.
My favorite locations are the National Parks, primarily Yellowstone, Teton, Glacier and everywhere in between.
My favorite subjects seem to be Barns and Bears ... and all the incredible wildlife and scenery that Montana and the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
My co-pilot Jackson (see pic) rides shotgun and handles security. I handle the driving and scouting for bears.
I once read that you should buy art that moves you and that you have a personal connection to in some way. Art you want to look at everyday, perhaps brings you joy.
Since I have the time to invest in each order that I receive, I ensure that everything is 100% perfect with your order.

The wispy white clouds appear to be dancing above Bird Woman Falls in Glacier National Park. This image is taken from the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Highway. Glacier Park is often referred to as the Crown of the Continent.
"Robert Frost Reflection"
Inspired by the 1994 classic movie "The Shawshank Redemption", this tree reminds me of something out of a Robert Frost poem. A tree that looks like it doesn't belong there, yet does. A tree that protects history's secrets within it's branches. Scenic & Nature Photography by Terrence Sweeney Photography.
Paradise Valley is located in Southwest Montana and serves as the Gateway to Yellowstone National Park. In the spring, the valley floor glows green while the Absaroka Mountains holds onto some late season snow in the upper peaks. The Yellowstone River winds through Paradise Valley as it flows from Yellowstone Park up to Livingston. I have enjoyed many days in Paradise Valley and always seem to
"Two Hours and Two Minutes"
This is by by far one of my favorite pieces of art in my collection. Solar Eclipse Timeline was from 2017 and includes the Diamond Ring. The images were captured in Tetonia, Idaho.over a period of two hours and two minutes. The partial eclipse is depicted by the orange sun being partial covered by the moon and takes an hour prior and after the total eclipse. The to
"Grand Teton Morning"
The fall foliage and the dramatic white clouds are reflected in a channel of the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park. The perfectly still water of these channels is a by-product of the local beavers who build their dams and make their home there. This area is known as Schwabacher's Landing and is also home to many moose in the area. It is one of the more iconic
"The Family Huddle" Grizzly Bear 399 and 4 Cubs,
Any sense of danger will cause the little cubs to huddle around Momma Bear for safety. It created a wonderful moment that lasted just an instant, before the cubs rambled off exploring again.
Grizzly Bear 399 could be considered the greatest Momma Bear of all-time.

"Fall Window" This big bull elk was taking a walk through an autumn dream during the Teton fall rut of 2023. He was keeping tabs on several cow elk who were nearby. The fall rut will last about 20-45 days each autumn. The fall foliage glowing from the aspen, birch and cottonwoods tend to be peaking at the same time the rut is. Grand Teton National Park.

The fall foliage glowing from the aspen and the birch tend to be peaking at the same time the rut is. Grand Teton National Park.
"The Farmer's Angel"
Sometimes I see angels in the clouds. An angel forms through the heavenly clouds to say a prayer for our farmers of the world. They provide the food that feeds the world and are the stewards of the land. Amen.
Barn Photography, Scenic Photography by Terrence Sweeney Photography.
"The Granary" The Spanish Peaks and Big Sky Montana create a beautiful winter backdrop in this image that captures the spirit of Montana. Granaries are most often used to store threshed wheat after harvest. The granary is often elevated and built on stilts to keep mice and vermin from infesting the wheat bounty.

"Whitetails" Whitetail Deer bask in the late day glow near Bozeman Montana. The older red barn appears to be struggling to hold onto it's original form. The barn and a nearby tree appear to have formed a symbiotic relationship. How many whitetails do you see?

"The Encounter" | Yellowstone Herd Bull Elk | Yellowstone National Park
These two Yellowstone Bull Elk were preparing for a sparring session. Prior to the battle, they approach, touch noses as if to say hello or maybe size each other up. The hint of an alpenglow on the mountains provided an excellent background for this battle. Fall Rut 2021, Yellowstone National Park.
"Fresh Powder #1"; Grizzly Bear Felicia and Cubs; Wildlife; Bear Photography; Grand Teton Photography.
These 2021 COY (cubs-of-year) Grizzly Cubs were born to a Grizzly Sow named Felicia. Felicia is the off-spring of the famous Grizzly Bear 399 and makes her home on top of a high mountain pass in Wyoming. The conditions can be brutal and survival is the daily challenge.
